If your Mitel is giving you a red error message that says "Cannot connect to IM server" or "Cannot reach exchange server" Try this fix.
Open your application tray at the bottom of your screen. You will see an icon for Mitel.

Now right click and choose "exit"

 After Mitel closes. Reopen the application.
